Pilates is progressive and it improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing and whilst developing strong core muscles and improves coordination plus balance. The beauty of Pilates is that anyone, at any age can get started. Through the controlled and progressive movements, you can totally reshape your body.
Pilates improves balance as it requires a lot of slow movements of the limbs whilst maintaining a strong core and your balance will quickly improve. You gain the ability to maintain correct spine alignment/shoulder girdle position and pelvic position.
Pilates improves core strength in stomach muscles, improves flexibility by combining stretches in a varied range of motions. Further Pilates may help with mental health with the focus on breathing allowing calming, ending the day with a deep stretch.
Please bring a mat and small towel to each class.
Joanne Ventura is a trained Pilates teacher and certified personal trainer who has taught extensively in Canberra and Melbourne since 1998. Joanne has taught from young children in state primary through to exclusive secondary schools, various gyms, various studios, corporate staff and hospitals.
