Woodworking – Beginners; open to ‘Try it out’ first-timers, or those wishing to enhance some existing basic skills.
This introductory woodworking course is a great starting point. Perfect for those with little or no woodworking experience wanting to learn more. These introductory level classes are designed to tease your woodworking interest. Learn about the various workshop tools and machines while making your own project. If you do not have a project, the suggested project is to create basic wooden toys suitable for youngsters. The course aim is for you to learn some new skills and take home something that ‘you’ have created (because in woodwork we don’t make we ‘create’). The course is relaxed and structured so you have the opportunity to maximise the hands-on components.
Your teacher (Steve) will take you through each step of the process and show you the correct and safe method using a Bandsaw, Compound Mitre Saw, Linisher, Thicknesser, Drill Press and machines and tools.
Of course, as part of the fun, you will also be sanding, drilling, making sawdust and wood shavings, all part of the satisfaction that is woodworking.
These skills can be applied to many woodworking projects. Follow-on courses will start to build small chairs and tables suitable for young children and continue to develop from there.
- All students = $5 payable (once off) to the teacher to cover general materials and consumables.
- Extra $$: For specific wood or non-generic materials requirements, the student will need to pay (at cost) directly to the teacher or you may wish to supply your own.
- Covered foot ware, eye and hearing protection.
